DESIGN DESCRIBE DRIADE

An exhibition entirely dedicated to Driade

An exhibition entirely dedicated to Driade will open its doors in Shanghai in the prestigious location of Sunke Villa.

Accessible to the public and professionals from February 26th to April 10th, the monographic exhibition Design Describe Driade is a presentation of Driade's philosophy and projects and an account of how this brand has influenced the world of international design over the last 50 years.

The exhibition includes more than 50 works created for Driade by 20 international designers at different times: Fabio Novembre, Borek Šípek, Sejima Kazuyo, Toyo Ito, Patricia Urquiola, Konstantin Grcic to name a few. Also on display are six archive pieces, exhibited exclusively for China, representing the initial period of collaboration between Driade and Philippe Starck.

Located at 1262 Yan'an West Road, Sunke Villa is part of the Columbia Circle, a residential complex built in the 1920s and recently undergoing a major renovation that has transformed it into a cultural centre and landmark for Shanghai's art and design community. Visiting Sunke Villa, the old building that combines Spanish style with Italian Renaissance and other styles, the tangible forms of design and the intangible atmosphere of the space play harmoniously together.
In a context of eclecticism between architecture and design, the public has the opportunity to understand how design can cross cultural boundaries and become a universal language.

Special mention to designers: Borek Sipek, Driadelab, Fabio Novembre, Faye Toogood, Francesco Bolis, Fredrikson Stallard, Italo Rota, Kazuyo Sejima, Konstantin Grcic, Lievore Altherr Molina, Linde Burkhardt, Ludovica + Roberto Palomba, Naoto Fukasawa, Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Starck, Ron Arad, Tokujin Yoshioka, Toyo Ito, Vittorio Locatelli, Xavier Lust.
