Jason Ong was born in Singapore in 1970 and he graduated from Domus Academy in Milan with a Master in Design with Distinction in 2002.
Trained in product design, he started his career in 1995, working in an architect firm in Singapore and London.
Jason started his own studio Jienshu in 2005, designing products and furniture as well as working on commissioned projects for set design and public art. Jienshu is derived from his Chinese name with the meaning ‘to construct’ and ‘pivotal role’, serving as his calling as a designer. His interest in design dwells on exploring concepts, forms and humanistic values, with a vision of seeing design as a reflection of human selves.
Among his accolades include the Grand Prix award at the Nagoya International Design Competition in 2000.
